What Is the Middletown Preschool Program?

The Middletown Public Schools Preschool Program provides early learning opportunities for three and four year old Middletown residents in a supportive, school-based environment.

The program follows the Middletown Public Schools calendar, with classes held Monday through Friday throughout the school year.


Program Options

Families can choose from part-day and school-day preschool options, depending on availability and eligibility.

Part-Day Program (2.5 Hours)

  • Located at Snow School
  • Four classrooms serving 3 and 4 year olds
  • Typically:
    • 3 year olds attend morning sessions
    • 4 year olds attend afternoon sessions
  • Class placement may vary based on enrollment

School-Day Program (6 Hours)

  • Available for 4 year olds only
  • Located at:
    • Snow School
    • Spencer School
    • Bielefield School
  • Offers a full school-day experience

Enrollment & Lottery Process

Enrollment varies by program type:

Part-Day Program

  • Rolling enrollment based on completed applications
  • Open throughout the school year as space becomes available

School-Day Program

  • Enrollment is determined by lottery
  • Children must turn 4 by December 31 of the school year to be eligible
  • Due to limited availability, placement is not guaranteed
  • Families not selected may:
    • Be placed on a waiting list
    • Apply for the part-day program

Tuition & Transportation

  • Preschool fees are determined using the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood sliding fee scale
  • Transportation may be available based on family income
